The Hetling Pump Room, Hot Bath St, Bath BA1 1SJ, UK – 01225 331234
The staff was very friendly and helpful regarding the MANY questions I had to ask. The facilities were clean and well labeled. I never felt confused or overwhelmed. I can confidently say this is the best spa I have ever been to (and I have been to many). It was my boyfriend’s first time going to a spa and he really enjoyed it. We just did the new bath two hour package and had a wonderful time in both pools and in the treatment rooms. Particularly loved the steam rooms with aromatherapy and the rooftop pool—what a view!
We spent a lovely couple of hours here as a break whilst driving to Wales. It was a hot sunny day which was perfect for relaxing in the rooftop pool! They don't allow you to take photos inside unfortunately but the views were lovely. There are 3 main levels for the basic access tickets, the rooftop pool, the basement pool and one level with steam rooms, an ice room, an infrared room and a relaxation room so you can really make the most of your 2 hours. They also provide you with robes and towels and slippers, and shampoo and conditioner in the showers so no need to bring your own. Facilities were very good and very clean. The only downside is the price which I am not quite sure was worth it but it was still a good experience and I would recommend it for a relaxing afternoon.

Spa and gym facilities are impeccable. Small gym but well equipped. They use life fitness equipment which can connect up to your smart phone or smart watch apps. They have a large pool with the option of sun loungers and outside pool. Multiple options of steam room and sauna which means you can spend a lot of time relaxing. Staff are friendly and welcoming and will offer you a hand if you need it. Towels are provided. It is clean and checked regularly. Will definitely visit again.
My husband and I stayed here for the weekend after getting some vouchers for our wedding. The room was lovely, beds comfy etc, but we felt a bit disappointed by the service at what is billing itself as a 5 star hotel. We were given conflicting advice from different members. We asked at the bar for a small jug of milk to bring up to our room for a cup of tea and waited 20 minutes for it to show up before giving up. The breakfast was also not great considering, have had much better hot breakfasts in more modest hotels. The main hot breakfast is served in in chaffing dishes which guaranteed watery scrambled eggs. To top it all off we were billed incorrectly and had to go and get it adjusted when we checked out. While we were doing that at least 2 other guests were waiting to do the same thing. Next time we visit Bath we will likely find somewhere less expensive with better service as this really wasn't worth the money.
16 Royal Cres, Bath BA1 2LS, UK – 01225 823333
My wife and I recently took a last minute break and decided to stay at the Royal Crescent hotel. We booked online the day before and not long after we had a call from Stacey asking our approximate arrival time and if we wanted to book the restaurant. A very good start. On arrival at the hotel we pulled up (double parked!) and was expecting a concierge service but we got our bags out ourselves at which point the concierge eventually turned up. He was friendly but didn’t explain at first what happens with the car as it was valet parking. Anyway we got inside and he showed us to the reception and we checked in. We were shown to our room by the reception girl who was very pleasant. We had booked a suite which was to have a view of the crescent gardens or the hotel gardens. We did have a limited view to the crescent gardens but only through the stonework at the top of the hotel!!! Not the best for a suite we thought. The room itself was lovely with a separate lounge, great bedroom and large bathroom. We were looking around the room and noticed the only coffee or tea making facilities was a Nespresso machine with half a dozen pods and a note saying if you want tea or fresh milk you needed to call reception. We found this very strange and you wanted a drink when you get up you have to phone down and order milk before you can enjoy your drink. Later we went down to reception and asked about this and on our return there was knock on the door and when we opened it there was someone with a tray containing several teas, hot chocolate sachet, kettle, 2 mugs and a kettle. Why wasn’t this in the room to start with?? When he brought it in there was actually nowhere to put it. To use the kettle you had to plug it into the wall and sit it on the floor. Not very 5 star. I have stayed in lesser star hotels that had better tea making facilities. On the subject of power sockets, for my wife to use the hair dryer she had to use an extension lead by the bed across the other side of the room. Again not 5 star as we would ha e expected a socket near the dressing table to plug it into and use. We used the restaurant for dinner on the first night and breakfast for the two nights and the food was excellent and the waiting staff attentive. On one occasion a little too quick to remove our plates literally the second we put our cutlery down. It would have been nice to have a little breathing space to savour the food. The hotel has a spa with swimming pool, steam and hot rooms. We used this on the day we arrived and it was very clean. One strange thing was that there was only 3 beds to sit down and relax. We found this very odd as there are mainly couples using it so if two are taken it leaves one to share if you are a couple. At least there should be 4! The hot tub looked good but the steps to it were very steep and being a rather tall chap it was very difficult to get in as I really had to bend over making it rather uncomfortable. I did notice ‘average size’ people also banged their heads. The bar area and staff were great and offered great food and drinks which we sampled on both nights. The gardens are lovely but due to the rain we had when we were there we couldn’t make the most it. On the morning of our departure I phoned down to reception to ask for the car to be brought around and to prepare the bill. At that point I was expecting the reception staff to say that the concierge would be up to collect the cases but this didn’t happen unfortunately. We took the bags down ourselves and went to reception to check out. When we got there there was another couple sat at the desk. The reception staff came over and presented my bill standing in the lobby. Again this isn’t the 5 star customer focused service I would have expected. The hotel itself is in a great location and is beautiful but from the points above it didn’t feel like a full 5 star standard. It’s the small things that let it down and could be improved quite simply. Would we stay again? Possibly but now we know what to look and ask for before we arrive.
Went here for afternoon tea. Great service in a lovely location. How the other half live. The service and food was on point. I would recommend the afternoon tea in the gardens for that special event.
