Local Chambers of Commerce for BA1. These can be an extraordinarily effective way of getting into the business community and / or getting things done. Equally they can be entirely useless depending on the chair. If they have networking events associated with them definitely go, and keep going, if you have a business that need local support. What you put in is exactly what you get out. Below is the national site. Watch this slot - it might improve!

High St, City Centre, Bath BA1 5AW, UK – 01225 394041

I Love This place!! It's so unique, a timeless centre offering many shops and quirky outlets - been going there since my grandmother used to take me decades ago. From artsy handmade items to gorgeously rude cards and beautiful jewellery, with everything in between (haberdashers, deli, hardware, electrics, coffee makers, leather goods etc etc). Just go and try it for yourself!

This place has been here for as the City itself. There are number of coffee shops and eateries. A delicatessen, hardware store, second hand bookshop and an hairdressers amongst others. Great atmosphere, highly recommend a visit!

Bath MOT

Fleet Services Depot, Locksbrook Rd, Bath BA1 3EL, UK – 01225 477314

Have taken my car there three times now and these guys are wonderful. Proactive, friendly and helpful, no upselling or hidden agendas - just straight forward great service and advice. Can not recommend them enough.

OK, an MOT is an MOT but why not be choosey who does it for you? Just had mine done at the Council MOT station Locksbrook Road. I rate it very highly because; its easy to get to, staff are friendly, complimentary tea/coffee, no up-selling of additional services, fast and efficient, they do it while you wait at the appointed time, ( so in and out in 1 hr. They offer a free reminder service for next year (DVLA charge $1.50 for this service), a loyalty discount for next year, and of course the profits that would have lined the garage owners pockets are put back into Council services reducing my Council Tax bill. And more importantly for me, they have no incentive to fail the car to get extra work as has been my experience in the past with MOT stations linked to garage services. Why go elsewhere?

Registration of Births Deaths & Marriages

Guildhall, High St, Bath BA1 5AW, UK – 01225 477234

We were married at Kingston Registry Office in February and then went on to have our Reception in the Guildhall - the Queen Anne Suite. We cannot praise everyone at the Guildhall enough from the Register Office Team through to Monika and her staff who looked after us so well both before during and after our lovely wedding day. Nothing was too much trouble and everything was accomplished with the minimum of fuss, lots of laughter yet a very professional approach.. We wanted an informal relaxed celebration with close family and a few friends and it was perfect. Everything that could be done was done to make our day exactly as we had planned and hoped for. Our guests all commented on what a beautiful wedding it was. Thank you to everyone concerned Cyd and Richard Slade 03/03/2017

Dental Surgeries

mydentist, Walwyn Close, Twerton

Walwyn Cl, England, Bath BA2 1ER, UK – 01225 339882

Have visited this dentist several times, most recently today for an emergency appointment. They are absolutely fantastic - the receptionist, dentist, dentist's assistant... all made me feel so at ease despite my nerves and provided me with the best treatment possible. Highly recommended!

Bath Spa Dentistry

19 James St W, Bath BA1 2BT, UK – 01225 464346

This is a wonderful dental practice in central Bath. All the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. I am very happy with my extensive dental work done so expertly by Sandra – she is a perfectionist and I can now smile with pride. Sandra is also a very calming influence if you are a bit nervous of going to the dentist! I am so happy with the results and would highly recommend the practice for any dental procedures. Thank you Sandra!

My visits to Bath Spa Dentistry are always something to look forward to. This is because it begins as I enter, with a friendly reception - which puts me in a relaxed frame of mind, before any work begins. Jason - who handles my somewhat unusual one off brace fitting is with his assistant both efficient and calm during procedures. He also makes time for a brief chat or joke - making the time spent in the chair fly by. To sum it all up, I trust the high quality professional skill sets that the staff offer, and at the same time admire their people friendly methods used. Keep up the fine work, David Snowdon

No Fear Dentist

I've never felt so relaxed at the dentist !

Fairfield Park Health Centre: Dr J Gilbert

Fairfield Park Health Centre, Tyning Ln, Bath BA1 6EA, UK – 01225 331616

Always had a great experience using this surgery. Especially like the walk-in-an-wait service, so no need for an appointment. A few admin mistakes over the years, but generally very efficient. Very happy that they are my local service.

Waiting times often long at drop in. Bookable appointments usually weeks away. Was shocked that I had to choose which of my medical problems were most important as they restricted me to only sorting one. Also asked for a letter to be written and had to chase it up for weeks.

The Pulteney Practice

35 Great Pulteney St, Bath BA2 4BY, UK – 01225 464187

First to implement new system of getting a doctor's appointment. To begin this process one must tell the receptionist why you want to see a doctor. If you can satisfy the receptionist that you really do need to see a doctor a doctor will ring you back within an hour and give you an appointment. Not very popular.

This practise is an oasis of brilliance. So many good doctors, incredibly proficient, and Dr Gardener Thorpe deserves a special mention!

Dr C Bevan - Fairfield Park Health Centre

Fairfield Pk Health Centre, Tyning Ln, Bath BA1 6EA, UK – 01225 331616

I have experience of a large number of GP practices both directly and indirectly through my work. I have never found one that provides such a high quality of friendly, helpful and professional service. The walk in and wait service is very convenient and means no long wait for an appointment for an urgent matter. The staff are always cheerful and helpful. The support they provided to my partner and myself when she was terminally ill was just amazing. I would not have got through it without them. 8 years later I continue to receive the highest possible standard of care. In the words of Tina Turner "Simply the best."

Lovely and helpful receptionists. Great morning walk-in service from 8-10.30am. Nicely kept/clean centre. Good GPs.

NHS Direct is now NHS 24. Just dial 111 to speak to a professional or click the link below for there self help website. Lots of really useful info but keep clear of heart surgery! If in doubt ask your GP or call 111. Good luck.

Royal United Hospital

Combe Park, Bath, Avon BA1 3NG, UK – 01225 428331

Excellent care. I injured my knee and went to A&E after it got significantly worse after I'd seen my GP. All of the staff - from the receptionists to the consultant - treated me with great respect, care and professionalism. They were efficient in organising an X-Ray and an MRI and I saw the consultant twice in two weeks following my attendance at A&E. Thank you! The hospital itself was modern, clean and generally had a nice atmosphere. The "Friends of the RUH" shop is nice and well stocked.

My review is based on telephone assistance & not medical treatment. I telephoned the hospital this morning for details about my mother because she was admitted late the night before and I was about to make a 3 hour journey to visit her. Every member of staff from the receptionist, through to the ward nurse was extremely helpful and efficient. I had to be passed to 4 different extensions to get to the person who could help me with my enquiry but i have to say the process was done in a matter of seconds. I was extremely impressed. Each person was polite, friendly and helpful and I couldn't ask for any more than that.

Love this place. The building is so beautiful. The staircase inside is amazing. Staff super friendly. Clean and tidy place. Comfy seating areas. Lift available to all. Doctors are extremely good. I have been diagnosed here with 2 illnesses and they were so helpful, kind and caring.

This place is a true godsend. I don't know where we would be now if we hadn't been referred here for the condition CRPS. The staff are amazing and are truly incredible people.

Southdown Methodist Church Centre

206 The Hollow, Bath BA2 1NG, UK – 01225 460368

One of our elderly customers called the day after a job - her cooker had stopped working. Probably nothing to do with the carpet cleaning, but we were working in Bristol so I looked on Google Maps for the nearest listed place that might be able to help. A lovely woman from the church, Mary, responded straight away and walked round to see how she could help. I'm not a church person, but really warmed by simple acts of kindness. Thank you.

Spectacular! A short menu but almost impossible to choose - it all sounds tempting. And when the food arrives, it is mindblowing. Beautifully prepared, clean tastes - pure joy. Menu, service and interior - all thoughtful and accommodating. Best dining experience in a long time.

Nursery and Preschools

Little Willows Day Nursery

Powlett Rd, Bath BA2 6QH, UK – 01225 332296

I looked at over 15 nurseries before I found this hidden gem! Our daughter wanted to get down and play straight away and for us we knew straight away this was the nursery for her. I love the fact all the children play together in the garden, means all the children mix with different age ranges. As a nursery they cant do enough to make sure your happy as parents and that your child is happy in their environment. Their amazingly flexible if you need put your child in extra. Id recommend this nursery over and over again! Wonderful staff= happy children and as parents that's all we wanted was for our daughter to be happy while we work to provide for our family. She's been going here now since she was a year old.

Fantastic nursery! Our son has been attending for 2 years since he was a baby and he absolutely loves it, like a home from home. The staff are all lovely and our boy is very fond of them. They have played an integral role in his development in so many ways for which I am very grateful. My husband and I both work shifts and they are the only nursery which could accommodate for the long hours whilst being extremely flexible. We can't recommend Little Willows highly enough and look forward to enrolling our new baby boy next year.

St Stephen's C Of E Primary School

Richmond Pl, Bath BA1 5PZ, UK – 01225 311665

We chose St Stephen's School for our two children because of the tangible feeling of family that we got from it. Yes, the location is fabulous - what a view, and everyone being able to play together on the green after school is a huge bonus - and the results are great, but what has stayed with both of them (one in Y11, one in Y9) was the supportive, positive and nurturing approach that the school takes, and which gives the children real confidence in themselves and empathy with others. In fact, I liked the school so much I became a governor (just finishing my term, so no reason to sugar-coat this review).

All of my three children have been to St Stephens School. The teaching staff are excellent and have helped to instil in them a love of learning. There is a positive, fun atmosphere in school everyday and my children have always been well cared for.
